August 8: Catch Mike Maples, Jr. in Austin
The Forrest Four-Cast: August 7, 2017
Central Texas entrepreneurs, founders, funders and ahead-of-the-curve thinkers are encouraged to attend the interview with Mike Maples, Jr. at 8:30 am on the morning of Tuesday, August 8 at the Whole Foods Global Headquarters (550 Bowie Street, 78703).
A partner at Floodgate, Maples has been on the Forbes Midas List since 2010 and was also named one of “8 Rising Stars” by FORTUNE Magazine. Previous investments include Twitter, Twitch.tv, ngmoco, Weebly, Chegg, Bazaarvoice, Spiceworks, Okta, and Demandforce. He is known for coining the term “Thunder Lizards,” which is a metaphor derived from Godzilla that describes the tiny number of truly exceptional companies that are wildly disruptive capitalist mutations.
Maples was a relatively late add to the SXSW 2017 schedule, speaking on a session titled “Make Your Ideas Matter.” Also part of this panel were Scott Cook of Intuit and Katie Roof of TechCrunch. Listen to the hour-long podcast of that session via the SXSW SoundCloud channel.
The August 8 event is part of the ABJ Face-2-Face series. Click here to watch videos of more innovative industry leaders who have been part of this series, including Tim League (Alamo Draft House), Dan Graham (Notley), Amy Simmons (Amy’s Ice Cream) and many others.
