Austin Design Week: Too Much Cool Stuff!

The Forrest Four-Cast: November 6, 2017

Listed chronologically, ten of the hundreds of events that we are particularly excited about includes the following. Check the individual listing for location and for signup information (if any).

Argodesign Studio Tour (Monday at 4:00 pm): Explore the future of digital experiences without traditional user interfaces and how ordinary objects can be brought to life through technology.

Design-A-Thon: Event Kickoff & Workshop (Monday at 4:00 pm): Gather a team and compete in Austin Design Week’s first ever Design-A-Thon. Tackle some of the cities biggest design challenges and winning the big prize.

Design Placemaking for Local Civic Engagement (Tuesday at 10:00 am): Explore the what good citizenship looks like in a digitally disrupted society, and learn new design research methods you can use to engage your community.

Find Your People!: Developing and Exploring the Austin Design Community (Tuesday at 10:00 am): Learn about local design/designer-friendly groups to get involved in, online design+creative communities, and how to create space for design in seemingly unexpected places.

Design Institute for Health Studio Tour (Tuesday at 2:00 pm): Come tour the first-of-its-kind Design Institute embedded in the new Dell Medical School at the University of Texas Austin.

ACC at Highland ATX Project Tour (Wednesday at 2:00 pm): Discover the transformation of ACC at Highland ATX, an academic campus that will become the center of a new urban redevelopment district, facilitated by BGK Architects.

Home of the Future (Wednesday at 6:30 pm): Experience virtual tours of concepts for future dwelling that have been developed during the 20th and 21st centuries.

The Past, Present and Future of Chalk (Thursday at 8:30 am): Travel through time and explore the origins of street painting, discuss the state of public art today, and glimpse into our vision for the chalk art of the future.

Fjord Austin Studio Tour (Thursday at 4:00 pm): Experience Fjord Austin (formerly Chaotic Moon), home to a diverse and divergent team of creatives focused on designing, developing and delivering extraordinary digital products and unforgettable user experiences.

Crafting a Conversational Design Strategy (Friday at noon): In this workshop, gain an understanding of how conversational interfaces work, and how to implement a design strategy for building great experiences.

East Side Collective Studio Tour (Friday at 4:00 pm): Visit East Side Collective’s co-working studio space and see how designers, builders, developers, engineers, and artists help lead Austin into thoughtful, innovative design, while offering an authentic piece of the city’s creative culture.
