The strength of the Central Texas technology / startup scene helps SXSW thrive as an epicenter of innovation. Some of the most interesting events in Austin for the week of June 19 through June 25 are as follows:

Monday, June 19: SKU 5 Showcase Day (FREE)
Seven stellar startups and 60 mentors have put in 14 weeks of hard work preparing their companies to scale. They are ready to share their progress and paths ahead. Come share and marvel at their accomplishments! At Trinity Hall at 5:00 pm.

Monday, June 19: SXSW Gaming Community Meet Up (FREE)
The process for entering speaking proposals for SXSW Gaming 2018 begins on Monday, June 26 (and closes on Friday July 21). Come learn more about how the PanelPicker works, plus get lots of other information about next year’s SXSW Gaming event. At Capital Factory at 7:00 pm.

Tuesday, June 20: Ask Me Anything with Bijoy Goswami (FREE)
Are you new to the Austin Startup Community? Thinking about moving here? Trying to figure out how to plug in? Come hear a comprehensive overview from a local community leader and get a chance to introduce yourself and ask questions. At Capital Factory at 4:00 pm

Tuesday, June 20: Tech and Transportation Panel (FREE)
Leaders in Austin’s transportation community will break down the biggest challenges and opportunities they face with the rise of new technology and explain how their teams adapt to the fast pace of innovation and our rapidly expanding city. At Galvanize at 6:30 pm.

Tuesday, June 20: Music Tech Meet Up (FREE)
The aim of this group is to create a regular meeting for anyone currently working on or interested in music related startups! Austin is one of the best cities on earth for music and for tech startups, so this group will fuse two of the best parts about Austin! Entrepreneurs, developers, investors, service firms, music industry folks and anyone with a passion for tech and music should join! At Capital Factory at 7:00 pm.

Wednesday, June 21: NewCo Austin

Wednesday, June 21: Austin Digital Jobs Recruiting Mixer (FREE)
Come learn more about what gigs are available, bring your resume, and yes, have a beer. This is a relaxed environment with no self-important speakers, just people looking to employ and be employed. Free for job seekers ($99 for recruiters and employers). At Rattle Inn at 5:00 pm.

June 22–25: Startup Weekend HackOut
Startup Weekend HackOut is the first-ever LGBTQIA-themed Startup Weekend event! The purpose of this event is to inspire potential entrepreneurs in the LGBTQIA community to learn the ropes of validating an idea for a startup or lifestyle business and turn that idea into a business venture. In just 54 hours, you will experience the highs, lows, fun, and pressure that make up life at a startup. As you learn how to create a real company, you’ll meet the very best mentors, investors, co-founders, and sponsors who are ready to help you get started. At the HomeAway offices at the Domain (plus various other locations). Tickets range from free to $25.

Thursday, June 22: Data Science Capstone Showcase (FREE)
Our Galvanize graduates completed 600+ hours of practical, hands-on, project-based curriculum. These Graduates are engineers with experience across the data science stack — data munging, exploration, modeling, validation, visualization, and communication. You and your team will have the opportunity to see projects they built, meet them face-to-face, and review their backgrounds in detail. At Galvanize at 3:00 pm

Thursday, June 22: Immigrant Heritage Month Celebration (FREE)
Join Kevin Koym and FWD.US in an evening of celebration of Austin Entrepreneurs for all they contribute to the community and the world. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how this group of courageous people are helping transform the way we live, learn and work. At TechRanch at 6:30 pm.

Friday, June 23: ATX Wave of Transformation (FREE)
Join us for a free half-day session with three industry leaders discusssing some of the drivers of this transformation and insights into how companies are grappling with these changes. You will gain insights into how you can be a change agent to help integrate the wave of transformation into your organization! At Capital Factory at 12:30 pm.

Friday, June 23: The Iron Yard Austin Demo Day (FREE)
Join us at the Iron Yard’s Demo Day to celebrate our Spring 2017 cohort. They will be concluding their 12-week immersive course by demoing their individual final projects. Saturday, June 24: Create a Chatbot for Business, Marketing, and Fun
At “Bot What You Got,” we want to get you ahead of the curve in this new direction in code that dozens of A-list Austin companies like IBM, Cisco, Howdi, and Condé Nast are hiring for every day. June 25–28: Smart Cities Connect
