The strength of the Central Texas technology / startup scene helps SXSW thrive as an epicenter of innovation. Some of the most interesting events in Austin for the week of June 5 through June 11 are as follows:

June 5-June 8: Made In Austin (FREE)
A week of free events celebrating the innovators, products, communities and businesses putting Austin on the map. Join us for inspiring workshops, talks, panels, networking, closing party and concert, all highlighting Austin change makers in the areas of Outdoors, Art & Design, Food & Beverage, and Music. Topics, times and locations vary — check the Made In Austin website for the most current details.

Monday, June 5: Austin Coding Academy Open House (FREE)
Join us to learn about our unique, part-time curriculum curated to the Austin job market and how we take students to full-stack developer proficiency in 30 weeks. We are proud to announce our north Austin location will be opening June 19th at Tech Ranch Austin, and will follow a Microsoft full stack curriculum of C# and .NET. Monday, June 5: Austin Food & Tech Meet Up (FREE)
This Meet Up is for individuals and organizations working to impact the food system. We exist to support food and tech entrepreneurs with their ventures. If you are, an any capacity, working on the current or future challenges associated with food, you are invited to join this community. At Capital Factory at 6:30 pm.

Monday, June 5: Women Who Code (FREE)
Women Who Code is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring women to excel in technology careers by creating a global, connected community of women in technology. The organization tripled in 2013 and has grown to be one of the largest communities of women engineers in the world. At Capital Factory at 7:00 pm.

Tuesday, June 6: How to Meet Investors in Austin
Are you an entrepreneur starting a new company? Recently moved your company to Austin? Come hear an overview from an experienced entrepreneur and angel investor Josh Baar, plus get a chance to introduce yourself and ask questions. At Capital Factory at 4:00 pm. Tickets $10.

Tuesday, June 6: Bank SNB Entrepreneur’s Happy Hour (FREE)
Join Bank SNB for our “First Tuesday” series of networking events spotlighting local entrepreneurs and their game-changing products and services. The June event will include prize giveaways, complimentary beer, wine and light hors d’oeuvres. At Bank SNB at 5:30 pm.

Tuesday, June 6: Austin Virtual Workers Happy Hour (FREE)

Tuesday, June 6: Venture Forth 37 Pitch Night (FREE)

Tuesday, June 6: BioBash Spring 2017
Please join us for our twice annual premier informational and networking event featuring an update on the innovation taking place in our community. Wednesday, June 7: Web Development Immersive Info Session (FREE)
Are you interested in becoming a web developer? Are you ready to propel your career in web development? Perhaps you know coding basics but are looking to expand your skills further. June 8–11: ATX Television Festival
The focus of the ATX Television Festival is on the celebration of the medium: looking back at its history, where it is now, and where it is headed. Our festival consists of panels, screenings and events where attendees can hear from the actors, writers, directors, creators, showrunners, music supervisors, casting directors and studio executives involved in all stages of bringing their favorite series to the small screen. Tickets $79 to $225.

Thursday, June 8: Austin TechBreakfast (FREE)
The Austin TechBreakfast is a “show and tell” format event where up to five different technologists will demo their technologies from a wide range of industries ranging from software to hardware, IT to Biotech, robotics to space tech. At Capital Factory at 8:00 am.

Thursday: June 8: Coffee and SEO / Marketing Talk (FREE)

Thursday, June 8: Austin Forum (FREE)
The June 2017 edition of this monthly lecture series focuses on how technology can help leaders and other decision makers improve smart city planning in Austin. Thurs, June 8: Capital Factory $100,000 Challenge Info Session (FREE)
