Buy A Badge Today! 4 New SXSW Elements
At 10:00 am CDT on Tuesday, August 1, badge sales begin for SXSW 2018. Register early for the lowest rates of the season and for the highest number of Austin lodging options for next March. Speaking of options, four of the most exciting changes and evolutions for the 2018 event are as follows:
- More Downtown Hotels. Located just across the street from the Austin Convention Center, the new 37-story Fairmont Austin will provide about 1000 more sleeping rooms as well as significantly more meeting space for SXSW Programming. Other new downtown properties for 2018 include the Hyatt House Austin, the Aloft Austin Downton and the Element Austin Downtown. Reserve the hotel room of your choice via the SXSW Housing Department after you buy your badge.
- Tweaks on Conference Tracks. The SXSW Conference runs for nine days and consists of 25 different tracks of programming. For next spring, we’ve tweaked a few of these groupings. Revised track titles include “Code & Programming,” “Health & Wellness,” “News & Journalism,” “Music Culture & Stories,” “Sync, Stream & License” and “Startup & Tech Sectors.” Help select panels and presentations within these tracks via the SXSW PanelPicker voting interface, which runs from Monday, August 7 through Friday, August 25.
- The Cities Summit (March 12–13). An evolution of the popular SXSW Eco event, this two-day event explores the future of cities through inspirational talks, hands on learning sessions, and special events to spark connection. Open to all SXSW registrants, the Cities Summit is designed to bridge the dialogue between city leaders and decision makers with SXSW communities — digital creatives, entrepreneurs, designers, artists and others — for a fresh look at how we shape our cities, and how they shape us.
- New Categories for Accelerator. The SXSW Accelerator Pitch Event brings some of the world’s most exciting and most promising startups to Austin. New categories for 2018 include “Health & Wearable,” “Hyper-Connected Communities” and “Sports & Performance Data.” Apply now to showcase your incredible entrepreneurial talent to top VCs, angel investors, and first-adopters as well as the thousands of global media professionals who flock to SXSW each spring.
