The Forrest Four-Cast: January 21, 2018
If numbers numbers and even more numbers are your passion, then the 8th annual Data Day Texas 2018 event on Saturday, January 27 at the AT&T Conference Center is for you. Originally launched in January 2011 as one of the first NoSQL / Big Data conferences, Data Day Texas highlights the latest tools, techniques, and projects in the data space, bringing together experts and attendees from around the world.
Speakers for this one-day event include Lukas Biewald (CrowdFlower), Dr. Denise Koessler Gosnell (DataStax), Kristian Hammond (Northwestern University), Lynn Pausic (Expero), Emily Robinson (Etsy), and Denis Vrdoljak (Berkeley Data Science Group). Sessions range from “Performance Data Modeling at Scale” to “Navigating Time and Probability in Knowledge Graphs” to “Fishing Graphs in a Hadoop Data Lake.”
Programming begins at 8:00 am and continues to 8:00 pm. Cost to attend Data Day Texas is $550. The AT&T Conference Center is located just south of the Forty Acres at 1900 University Avenue.
Big data is also a big deal at SXSW 2018. For this March, dozens of sessions cover this topic including “Data Nerds Meet Up,” “Designing & Building for a Data Science Future,” “Discussing Today’s Evolving Data Policy,” “Mo’ Data Mo’ Problems: Music in the Age of Data,” “More Than Numbers: Data Analysis for Storytellers,” “The Open (and Closed) Data Movement at Scale,” and “Singularity is Here: Future of Data Mining in VR.”
