Feb 15 Deadline for Student Writers!
The Forrest Four-Cast: February 8, 2019
For 2019, SXSW has established special discount registration rates for students who want to take part in all the creativity, learning, discovery and networking that is March in Austin.
What is the only thing better than a discounted student badge for SXSW? That would be a free student badge for this year’s event. Make yourself eligible for this free student badge by entering your 1500-word original essay in the 2019 David Carr Prize. The five best entries for this competition will all win a free Platinum badge for SXSW 2019.
If you are a student, your 1500-word original essay should focus on this prompt: “In 2050, warmer global temperatures will lead to…” Your essay that answers this question can be straight-forward — that higher sea levels will likely wreck havoc on coastal cities. But given that massive creativity is such a huge part of SXSW (and of the David Carr legacy), we encourage you to be as innovative as possible in projecting how climate change will impact our culture, our relationships and our current ways of life.
Happy thinking and happy writing. Or as the man who inspired this competition once said: “Keep typing until it turns into writing.”
