Although much of Austin continues to boom, the live music industry that sparked so much of the city’s creativity has struggled to keep up. When our musicians and venues are struggling to survive, this in turn puts stress on all of the companies in the music sector that provide products and services to them. As prices rise and Austin becomes a less affordable community, our creative soul is placed at risk.

Can our thriving tech industry come up with a solution to the financial challenges of the music industry? This question is the basis for a special Friday evening edition of the Austin Forum on September 22 at the Spider House Ballroom at 2908 Fruth Street.

Speakers for this discussion include Chad Swiatecki (Austin Monitor), Dave Blue (Spotcaller), Charlie Faye (Artist), Bianca Flores (Sound on Sound Fest), Clark Nowlin (ALL ATX), Stephen Sternschein (Empire Control Room & Garage), and Bak Zoumanigui (The FeedBak).

Doors for the Friday, September 22 event open at 5:45 pm and the program starts at 6:15 pm. Admission is free, but RSVP here to reserve your spot at the event. Following the discussion, the Spider House Ballroom will feature live Austin music from the Reputations, MCG, and Charlie Faye & the Fayettes. Cost for this show is only $5 for Austin Forum attendees.
