Giving & Sharing at Austin Forum on Dec 5
The Forrest Four-Cast: November 29, 2017
Learn more about how tech companies are giving back and helping underserved Central Texas communities at the next edition of the Austin Forum, which is scheduled on Tuesday, December 5 at 5:45 pm.
In this fast-paced session, attendees will learn how and why to create a tech company/organization for social good, and the local resources available to found, launch, and grow your business. Speakers will include Barbary Brunner (Austin Technology Council), Chelsea Collier (Digi.City), John Nehme (Allies Against Slavery), Leo Ramirez, Jr. (Encast), Zoe Schlag (Techstars Impact), and Monica Maldonado Williams (The New Philanthropists).
Admission to the Austin Forum is free. For this month, however, we invite you to share in the spirit of the season by bringing a new, unwrapped toy for our Operation Blue Santa Toy Drive.
Also from December 5 forward, the Austin Forum will accept donations of used cell phones and smart phones at all events. These devices will have a factory reset and be set up as new by the team at Austin Pathways’ nationally-recognized “Unlocking the Connection” initiative, which will connect every public housing resident with a digital device, digital literacy, and a free or very low-cost internet connection. Your donated smart phone can change lives and help close Austin’s digital divide.
Finally, please note that the Tuesday, December 5 meeting of the Austin Forum occurs at a new location. Site for this month’s event is Impact Hub North (as pictured above), at 5540 North Lamar Blvd.
Doors and bar open at 5:45 pm and presentation begins 6:15 pm. RSVP here to ensure your spot at the event.
