If reading is your thing, then be sure to attend the 2017 Texas Book Festival, which occurs Saturday-Sunday, November 4–5 just west of the Capitol Building in downtown Austin. Admission to this event is free — although there is a fee to attend the star-studded First Edition Literary Gala on Friday, November 3 at the Four Seasons.

Some of the authors and their books that I am most excited about at this year’s event include Luvvie Ajayi (“I’m Judging You: The Do Better Manual”), Jay Asher (“Thirteen Reasons Why”), Gretchen Carlson (“Be Fierce”), Matthew Dowd (“A New Way: Embracing the Paradox as We Lead and Serve”), Jennifer Egan (“Manhattan Beach: A Novel”), Nelson George (“To Funk and Die in LA”), Tom Hanks (“Uncommon Type: Some Stories”), Walter Isaacson (“Leonardo da Vinci”), Min Jin Lee (“Pachinko”), Attica Locke (“Bluebird, Bluebird”), Dan Rather (“What Unites Us: Reflections on Patriotism”), and Doree Shafrir (“Startup: A Novel”). The full list of participating authors for the two-day event is posted here and visit this page to find the hour-by-hour schedule.

Authors are also a big part of SXSW in Austin. Book Readings already confirmed for next March are listed on the SXSW schedule page. Moreover, we are incredibly excited that Ta-Nehisi Coates (author of “Between the World and Me” and “We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy”) will serve as one of the keynotes at the 2018 event.
