Scheduled Oct 27–28 in and around the grounds of the State Capitol Building, the Texas Book Festival is FREE and open to the public. One of the largest and most prestigious literary festivals in the country, this event features 250+ nationally and critically recognized adult and children’s authors, 100+ exhibitors, local food trucks, family activities, and countless opportunities to meet authors and fellow book lovers.

Authors scheduled to participate this weekend include Julian Castro, Mary H.K. Choi, Gay Gaddis, Casey Gerald, Heather Havrilesky, Scott Kelly, Bill Kilday, Turk Pipkin, Cecile Richards, Phoebe Robinson, Pete Souza, Marion Winik, Lawrence Wright, plus hundreds of others.

Also be sure to attend Lit Crawl Austin on Saturday, October 27. A mix of performances, games, trivia matches, and storytelling sessions, Lit Crawl Austin occurs along East Cesar Chavez and other East Side venues.

Finally, if you love books, then you will love the Book Reading program at SXSW. Jean Case, Meredith Ochs, Alex Rosenblat, Bill Shapiro, Frances West, and a handful of authors have already been confirmed for this program for March 2019. Click here to learn more these sessions.
