Earlier this week, badge sales began for SXSW 2019 in Austin. If you haven’t already registered, then do so now to take advantage of the lowest rates (as well as the best selection of downtown hotel rooms). And if you are a student or are a part of a large organization, then check out the special discount rates available for next year’s event.

The next major milestone for the 2019 event comes Monday, August 6 when community voting starts for the 5000+ ideas entered into this year’s SXSW PanelPicker. This community voting process will continue through the end of the day on Thursday, August 30.

The SXSW PanelPicker voting interface is very easy to use. Once you log into your account, use the thumbs up and thumbs down buttons to indicate which speaking proposals that you like the most. We also strongly encourage you to leave comments on why you like specific ideas. Finding the speaking proposals that most appeal to you is easy via the “Search” button at the top left corner of the interface. Also stay tuned to this space for analysis on some of the most popular tracks and topics within the 2019 interface.

Community voting makes up about one-third of the composite score for each PanelPicker proposal. The other two factors in this score are Advisory Board input and staff judging. PanelPicker proposals with the highest composite scores are selected to be part of the event. The majority of March Magic 2019 content will be announced in mid-October via the SXSW website.
